Vesicular lesions caused by candidiasis

Lesions in this patient who presented with a balanitis, appeared vesicular. Virus swabs for HSV and tests for other STIs, however, were negative, and follow-up HSV and syphilis serology were also negative. In fact, the patient had penile candidiasis diagnosed by microscopy and culture of subpreputial specimens using Sabouraud’s medium.
